The Canon EOS 850D is a versatile DSLR with well-rounded picture and video capabilities that is designed for beginning photographers but is also capable of performing sophisticated photographic jobs. High-resolution stills and UHD 4K video recording are supported, and a broad ISO 100-25600 sensitivity range is provided to accommodate working in a variety of lighting circumstances. This camera has a 24.1MP APS-C-format CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 image processor.

The sensor's design supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which employs phase-detection autofocus for rapid, precise, and smooth focusing performance whether recording movies or taking still photos in live view, in addition to benefiting the imaging qualities. A 45-point all cross-type phase-detection system is employed for rapid and precise focusing in a range of shooting conditions while taking still pictures with the optical viewfinder.

The physical layout has a 3.0 "1.04 million dot touchscreen LCD with vari-angle technology for easy viewing from all angles, including front and rear. Additionally, there is built-in Wi-Fi with NFC for quick and easy connection with a smartphone or tablet for wireless image sharing, and Bluetooth is included for image sharing to and remote camera control from a mobile device.

DIGIC 8 Image Processor and 24.1MP APS-C CMOS Sensor

With a 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 8 image processor, both stills and video applications may benefit from great sensitivity and quick performance. Working in a variety of lighting circumstances is accommodated by the native ISO range of 100 to 25600, and processing abilities reduce noise for pronounced clarity and extendable sensitivity up to ISO 51200. To accommodate dealing with moving subjects, the CPU also offers continuous shooting at up to 7 frames per second (fps) and UHD 4K video recording.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 45-Point All Cross-Type AF Systems

A wide-area 45-point all cross-type phase-detection autofocus technology benefits stills photography with the optical viewfinder by providing rapid and precise focusing in challenging lighting settings. The broad coverage of the 45 sensors is perfect for tracking and maintaining focus on moving things, and the cross-type construction of the sensors allows for higher accuracy in low-contrast and mixed illumination circumstances. To maintain precise focus while taking portraits, EOS iTR AF additionally gives recognised faces in a scene priority.

A Dual Pixel CMOS AF system is used either shooting in live view or when recording video, and it provides quick and accurate focusing performance much like how a camcorder does. In order to eliminate focus hunting and offer a wide and dense network of phase-detection collection elements throughout most of the image sensor, this technology includes two independent photodiodes into each pixel. This allows for quicker, more precise control of focus placement.

This focusing mechanism works to swiftly and precisely gain focus while dealing with still pictures, making it the perfect choice for shooting and tracking moving subjects so that crucial focus is reached with each frame. It is also possible to use Eye Detection AF to prioritise focusing on a subject's eye.

When recording video, the flexibility to control tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and Face Tracking priority allows for fluid and natural focusing when switching between various subjects or distances within the frame. Benefiting from the Touch AF technology, it is simple to adjust focus by touching objects in the scene on the touchscreen to shift focus in a natural way. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system's capacity to distinguish subjects and keep focus while operating inside shifting or crowded landscape enhances subject tracking in movies as well.

UHD 4K Video Recording

The Canon EOS 850D offers vertical video output for vlogging applications, UHD 4K video recording at up to 24 frames per second, Full HD, and HD recording, in addition to still photography. Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Movie Servo AF focusing capabilities, as well as the LCD monitor's touchscreen interface for simple control, are advantageous for video recording. Additionally, Movie Digital IS reduces the impression of camera wobble along five axes for more fluid video, aiding in the stabilisation of recordings. For even more control over your recorded sound, the body design includes a connection for an additional microphone.

Design of the Body and Wireless Connectivity

  • Large 3.0 "A 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD offers a simple way to choose menu options, control focus points, and examine images. Additionally, this screen has a variable-angle design that makes working from high and low angles more convenient.
  • The optical pentamirror viewfinder provides a simple method for shooting at eye level.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi makes it simple to wirelessly share both pictures and videos with a connected mobile device.
  • A smartphone or tablet may be connected through Bluetooth for rapid image sharing and remote control functions.

EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens

The EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens, which has a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range and can capture viewpoints from wide-angle to portrait-length, is included with the camera body. Its design incorporates an STM focusing mechanism that offers control that is smooth and accurate as well as nearly quiet focusing capabilities. In order to operate in low light and with higher zoom magnifications, the Optical Image Stabilizer technology also aids in reducing the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed increments.

Other Camera Features

A 220,000-pixel AE metering sensor improves the accuracy of exposure metering, focusing, and colour tracking for more precise skin colour detection.
