The FUJIFILM X-S10 is a stylish and adaptable mirrorless camera that is ideal for walkaround use because to its small size and extensive feature set. The X-S10 combines a compact form factor with the capabilities required for routine content creation. It has competent photo and video functions.

The X-APS-C-sized S10's 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor allows for high-resolution still photography, DCI/UHD 4K video recording at 30 frames per second, sensitivity ranging from ISO 160 to 12800, and mechanical shutter continuous shooting up to 8 fps. The sensor's BSI design, which enables less noise and overall clarity, is combined with the X-Processor 4 to produce quick performance and enhanced responsiveness. A hybrid autofocus system, which combines 425 phase-detection points with a contrast-detection system for rapid and precise AF performance, is also made possible by the sensor's architecture. A sensor-shift image stabilisation technology that can effectively eliminate the appearance of camera shake with practically any attached lens completes the package for both stills and video.

The X-S10 includes a redesigned layout for easy handling and shooting efficiency. The most visible modification is a move from a traditional shutter speed dial to a mode dial for more general usage. FUJIFILM cameras are well-known for their very intuitive physical designs. Additionally, the X-S10 has a back 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD that employs a vari-angle design to accommodate working from high, low, and front-facing angles. It also has a brilliant 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder. Additional wireless remote camera control and picture sharing to a mobile device are made possible by built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor and X-Processor 4

The APS-C-format 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, which boasts a back-illuminated design for smooth tone and colour reproduction, excellent low-light performance, and a broad native sensitivity range of ISO 160-12800, is the sensor used in the versatile and well-proven X-S10. It also uses a randomised pixel array, just as an X-Trans sensor, which results in excellent image clarity and sharpness because an optical low-pass filter is not used. The X-Trans design more closely resembles the organic nature of film than traditional pixel patterns, producing subtle colour and tone transitions while also lowering moiré and aliasing.

The extended phase-detection autofocus system, which has 425 selectable points and covers almost the whole sensor surface, is another feature of the sensor's architecture. This AF technology performs focusing more quickly and accurately in a variety of lighting situations down to -6 EV. The X-Processor 4, which has a quad-core CPU and provides faster, more responsive performance throughout the camera system, complements the imaging and focusing abilities. It can shoot at full resolution at a rate of 8 frames per second with a mechanical shutter, 20 frames per second with an electronic shutter, or 30 frames per second with an electronic shutter and a 1.25x crop.

In-Body Image Stabilization

By up to 5 stops, inbuilt 5-axis sensor-shift picture stabilisation reduces the visual impact of camera shaking. This system benefits from working with slower shutter speeds and while shooting in challenging lighting circumstances and is compatible with the majority of X Series lenses, even those that are not stabilised. In order to further help stabilise footage while shooting videos, especially when doing so handheld, 4-axis digital image stabilisation can be employed.

DCI and UHD 4K Video Recording

The X-S10 boasts a diverse range of video capabilities in addition to still photography, including internal DCI/UHD 4K recording at up to 30 frames per second and Full HD recording at up to 240 frames per second for extreme slow-motion playback. The X-Processor 4's speed greatly enhances overall video performance by enabling quick read speeds during video recording and assisting in lowering rolling shutter distortion while capturing moving objects. Additionally, the camera has a 3.5mm microphone connector for more sophisticated audio recording, as well as a micro-HDMI port that supports 10-bit 4:2:2 recording to an optional external recorder for increased quality.

Body Design

High-resolution 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder has a 0.62x magnification for bright and clear eye-level viewing.
Vari-angle 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD has a touchscreen design for intuitive operation and playback, and the articulating design greatly benefits working from high and low shooting angles. This vari-angle design also means you can close the screen against the camera body, hiding it from view for distraction-free shooting.
Despite the compact design, a large righthand grip enables solid and stable handling for comfortable all-day use.
The top plate incorporates a series of physical controls, including a dedicated exposure mode dial and two additional top dials, for fast, intuitive control over camera and exposure settings.
Rear joystick is available for intuitive selecting and switching of AF points as well as menu navigation and image playback.
Integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity allows for wirelessly sharing images to a mobile device or to use the device to remotely control the camera.
Single SD memory card slot supports up to the UHS-I standard for fast and flexible file storage.
Included NP-W126S battery provides approximately 325 frames per charge.

Film Simulation Modes

Taking advantage of FUJIFILM's vast history in traditional film-based photography, the X-S10 integrates several Film Simulation modes, which mimic the look and feel of some of FUJIFILM's classic film types:

Provia: The standard contrast and normal saturation color transparency film
Velvia: High contrast, high color saturation, and vivid color transparency film
Astia: Subdued contrast and color saturation with a look that is ideal for portraits
Classic Chrome: Delivers muted tones and deep color reproduction, similar to a dated slide film
Classic Neg: Muted contrast but vibrant colors with a vintage filmic feel
PRO Neg: Available with both Hi and Std. contrast options, this mimics the punchy-but-natural feeling of their professional-grade color negative film
Eterna: For a cinematic look, this provides a flat color, low saturation look well-suited to post-production color grading
Eterna Bleach Bypass: Refines the standard Eterna look with a higher key, higher contrast feeling while maintaining the overall desaturated look
Acros: Based on the popular B&W film, this monochrome mode has a distinct tonality and graininess and can be used along with Yellow, Red, and Green contrast filter effects
B&W: Straightforward and classic black and white effect with Yellow, Red, and Green contrast filter options
Sepia: Everyone's favorite old-timey look mimicking the popular alternative process

There is also a Grain Effect option that may be used to mimic the appearance of vintage film images with an organic grainy appearance, which is especially visible when printed. Additionally accessible are the Color Chrome and Color Chrome Blue effects, which use greater intensity colours to deepen colour, tonal response, and gradation.

XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens

The XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR, a flexible 24-120mm-equivalent zoom that covers wide-angle to medium-telephoto and has a constant f/4 maximum aperture, is included with the camera body. A sophisticated optical structure that incorporates three aspherical elements and one ED aspherical element, which helps to reduce a range of aberrations to provide great sharpness and clarity, complements this adaptable design. When working in bright illumination, a Super EBC coating further enhances contrast and colour neutrality by lowering flare and ghosting. A rapid and silent autofocus system and a six stop-effective image stabilisation technology that reduces the appearance of camera shake are additional features that are useful in a range of settings. The lens is completely weather-sealed so that it can function in bad weather.
