The majority of the features from the first Osmo Mobile model have been carried over into the DJI Osmo Mobile 3, along with many new ones. It has a new Sport mode, uses hand gesture control and body shape recognition, is lighter than its predecessor, can now be controlled with the DJI Mimo app for iOS or Android, supports larger smartphones, and now supports Bluetooth 5.0. The handle has been redesigned so that all of the ports are accessible while it is charging, that it can be folded down for storage, and that it is much more comfortable and usable when held at a 15° angle.
Any smartphone up to 3.5 inches can be mounted "wide in its phone cradle and capture fluid video while operating it handheld. With the DJI Mimo mobile app in sync, the Osmo Mobile 3 gives you access to a variety of shooting modes and features, including Portrait, Underslung, Landscape, Time-Lapse, Panorama, and now a Sport mode for shooting swift action. Additionally, you can now control the gimbal with hand gestures to track your movements, take a selfie, or record video without pressing any buttons or touching any controls. With ActiveTrack 3.0, it can also track body shapes automatically for human subjects without requiring manual selection.
The internal battery has a runtime of roughly 15 hours, and using the supplied USB Type-C cable to charge it takes about 2.5 hours. To charge your phone or other accessories while using the gimbal, there is a USB Type-A power output on the back of the handle.
